How to Get Started with Text Messaging

RakefetOnline integrates with Twilio to send text messages (SMS) on behalf of your organization. To begin using text messaging, you will first need to create and configure a Twilio account.

Step 1: Create a Twilio Account

Visit the Twilio website and create an account for your synagogue or organization. You can also begin with a Twilio trial account.

Step 2: Set Up Your Twilio Account

Once your Twilio account has been created, complete Twilio's required account setup and verification process.

You will also need to obtain a Twilio phone number that will be used as the originating number for text messages sent through RakefetOnline.

Important: Twilio may require additional business registration, identity verification, and messaging compliance information before SMS messaging can be fully activated. These requirements are managed directly through your Twilio account and may vary depending on your organization and messaging use.

Step 3: Locate Your Twilio Credentials

From your Twilio account, locate the credentials needed to connect Twilio with RakefetOnline:

  • Account SID

  • Auth Token

  • Twilio Phone Number

Your Auth Token is sensitive account information and should be kept secure.

Step 4: Connect Twilio to RakefetOnline

In RakefetOnline, open your congregation's Profile and enter the appropriate Twilio information into the text messaging/SMS settings:

  • Copy and paste your Twilio Account SID.

  • Copy and paste your Twilio Auth Token.

  • Enter your Twilio phone number. This will be the originating number used when sending text messages on behalf of your organization.

Once your Twilio information has been entered and your Twilio account is properly configured, RakefetOnline can use your organization's Twilio account to send SMS messages.
