Rakefet Online Mailgun DNS Configuration & Email Delivery Policy -

Purpose

To ensure reliable email delivery from the synagogue management system, a Mailgun SPF record must be added to the synagogue domain DNS settings.

This allows emails such as receipts, statements, announcements, notifications, and other system-generated emails to be sent securely through rakefetonline.com while displaying the synagogue’s email address.

Required DNS Configuration for Mailgun

The following SPF record must be added to the synagogue domain DNS:

include:mailgun.org ~all

The exact DNS entry and configuration details will be provided by our team during setup.

Once configured correctly:

  • Emails will     be sent via rakefetonline.com

  • The sender     will appear as the synagogue email address

Example:

Important Note Regarding Strict DMARC Policies

Some domains have a strict DMARC policy configured, such as:

  • p=reject

  • p=quarantine

In these cases, external systems may not be permitted to send emails using the synagogue’s domain email address, even when Mailgun SPF authorization is added.

If the synagogue’s IT provider or DNS administrator is unable to allow Mailgun authorization under the strict DMARC policy, a separate fallback email functionality will be required.

Fallback Email Functionality

For domains with strict DMARC restrictions, the system can use an alternative sending method.

In this setup:

  • The email sender title will appear as:

SynagogueName

  • Emails will be sent from a secure no-reply address through rakefetonline.com

Example:

  • From Email:  noreply@rakefetonline.com

  • Reply-To Email:

The synagogue’s actual email address
(example: office@synagogue.org)

This means recipients can still reply directly to the synagogue email address while maintaining proper email authentication compliance.

Action Required

Please coordinate with your IT provider or DNS administrator to:

  1. Add the Mailgun SPF record provided by our team.

  2. Confirm whether the domain has a strict DMARC policy.

  3. Inform us if fallback email functionality is required.

Once completed, we will verify the configuration and activate email sending for your synagogue account.
